I remember when timed release medicine first hit the streets. Dristan touted this new technology. When the capsule dissolved the tiny pellets inside were released. Some of them were absorbed immediately and brought quick relief to the sinus sufferer. But others had a different coating so that they dissolved later and sustained the effect of the drug.
The word of God is like that. Sometimes we read it and things jump right off the page to us. They address some immediate issue in our lives. But there is much in the word of God that escapes our understanding at the moment. But that does not mean that it’s a waste of time to have read it. Many times I have had a passage come back to me that I had read days, weeks or even months earlier. And all of a sudden it makes sense and hits home. It’s sort of like God’s
timed release mechanism in the word. How wonderful are His ways.So when you hit passages that don’t seem to have any immediate bearing on your life, keep reading. You may be surprised when they finally “dissolve” and take root in your heart.
